Riot police launch early morning raid on occupied Greek broadcaster

Greek riot police have raided the headquarters of ERT, the occupied public broadcaster which was officially closed by the government in June.

The police operation began at around 4am local time, when witnesses said six riot police vans stationed themselves outside the entrance.

Social media accounts claim the sacked employees who have continued to operate via  internet and satellite were given a matter of minutes to vacate the building.

ERT’s headquarters have been the site of numerous protests in recent months, not just against the shutdown of the broadcast company, but also against the government and its austerity policies.
