GERMANY    Dear friends of free shortwave radio, we have some bad news.

Our output amp was again returned to the manufacturer, and is adjusted to the control transmitter, which has arrived meanwhile. Up to now, we have no appointed date when the transmitter and amp will be returned. Our plans remain the same, but the launch date of the new station cannot be kept. Also, we will not define a new launch date before transmitter and amp have passed some tests with maximum power. Sorry, but postponed is not cancelled. Presently we are on air with the old control transmitter 75 watts. German Armed Forces Radio testing in DRM

Radio Andernach, Germany’s armed forces radio station, is now testing in Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) on 6,015 kHz from TDF Issoudun in central France. They claim that the potential move to DRM would mean that they would equip all of their Naval vessels with DRM receivers.

Failing Generator Threatens Swaziland Ministry

The news coming out of Trans World Radio's Swaziland transmitter site wasn’t good: The important backup generator was failing.

But that wasn’t the worst part of the story, as Station Director Mark Blosser soon realized. The cost of fixing it likely would reach $28,000. Where would that come from in a budget that already was overstretched?

Unexpectedly, a longtime supporter of the ministry wrote a check when Mark told him about the problem and another sizable donation came in. Still, the purse was more than $22,000 short.

Another Blosser friend, Eddie Fisher, retired from his job repairing commercial engines and moved to the area. When he examined the generator and gave his expert appraisal, the outlook grew even darker.

DXPedition - 8th-9th September 2012

It's not a real DXPedition, because it's my village house, where I go every weekend. It's the perfect place for shortwave listening - QRM-free place in a mountanious region with a lot of place for antennas. Recently, I installed three 100 metres single-wire, single-direction beverages. See "Equipment" for more information. I did this DXPedition with my friend and fellow DX-er - Ivo Ivanov, the author of DX MIX news and frequency manager of the now 'web-only' Radio Bulgaria.

HAM Radio Operators:

All the bands were very busy with the contest. I logged a lot of HAM radio operators from all over the world. I logged several South Americans (from Brazil, Argentina and Ecuador) and USA folks on 14MHz after 2200UTC (0100 local LZT), one Australian on 7MHz and the usual contestmen from Europe and Asia - mainly Russia, Italy, Germany, Ukraine, Italy. The logs are, however, too long to list them all.


Utility:

I didn't log any utility station during the weekend, but I frequently use them to check the propagation. On the different beverages, stations like Gander Volmet (Canada, 10051kHz, 5 kW, USB ), Khartoum Air Traffic Control (Sudan, 11300kHz, 1kW, USB), The Buzzer (Russia, 4625kHz, AM) and The Pip (3758kHz, AM) were blasting with excellent signal. I also logged an unidentified Chinese utility station, check the video recording below:

10 meters good propagation

There were a bits of good propagation on 10 meters during the last weekend. On Saturday morning, I heard a plenty of action from Europe - Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and also from Asia - Dubai, Thailand.
