Unidentified clandestine on 4025kHz
I heard a clandestine station on 4025kHz at 0030UTC last Thursday night, with long segments of Middle-Eastern pop music and announcements "Radio Farda". It's clear that it's not the US one, but another clandestine. Which station could it be? Any ideas are much appreciated. "Voice Of The People Of Kurdistan", "Voice of Iraqi Liberation" and "Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Radio" used to broadcast on this frequency years ago, during the war in Iraq... 73!

Suggestions to Radio Bangladesh Betar
Dear colleagues,
We appeal you to read this letter. If you agree with it, your broadcasts would have much better coverage and would be heard much better in your coverage areas. You must change your frequency policy dramatically when choosing a specific frequency.
We think that the frequency 7250kHz is unsuitable for your broadcasts, targeted to South-East and East Asia, because PBS Xizang is broadcasting in Tibetan on the adjacent frequency of 7255kHz and after 1500UTC, China Radio International in Nepali is broadcasting on 7250. All India Radio in Persian and Malayalam is broadcasting on 7250kHz after 1615UTC and is causing a co-channel interference to your broadcasts to the Middle East. Vatican Radio on 7250kHz in Latin language is causing co-channel interference to your broadcasts, targeted to Western Europe after 1840UTC. With the help of the FIELDPLOT 8.1 software, we figured out that you must use higher frequencies for all your broadcasts, except for the programs at 1230UTC. That's why we offer you to use the following frequencies with a signal strength of about 60-70dB:
1230-1300 on 7485 DKA 250 kW / 140 deg to SEAs English
1315-1345 on 9645 DKA 250 kW / 320 deg to SoAs Nepali
1400-1430 on 9605 DKA 250 kW / 290 deg to WeAs Urdu
1515-1545 on 9700 DKA 250 kW / 305 deg to SoAs Hindi
1600-1630 on 9450 DKA 250 kW / 290 deg to N/ME Arabic
1630-1730 on 9450 DKA 250 kW / 290 deg to N/ME Bangla
1745-1815 on 15520 DKA 250 kW / 320 deg to WeEu English (Voice of Islam)
1815-1900 on 15520 DKA 250 kW / 320 deg to WeEu English
1915-2000 on 13800 DKA 250 kW / 320 deg to WeEu Bangla
Surely, these frequencies should be registered in the HFCC database.
From 8th August, you're running test broadcasts on the frequency of 15520kHz, 1630-1730UTC for the Middle East and 1745-1900UTC and 1915-200UTC for Western Europe. However, there are several problems:
- co-channel interference from Voice Of Turkey in English for the Middle East until 1725UTC.
- the frequency of 15520kHz is too high for broadcasts at 1915-200UTC, that's why we suggest you to use another one (see the frequency schedule above).
- On some days, for example on 8th August, a proble occured during your broadcasts - a strong noise, probably a problem of the transmitter. With such a noise, the broadcasts are becoming very hard to listen to, that's why you should check for a solution of the problem. However, on some days the modulation is excellent and pretty clear.
If you agree with this corrections and suggestions, we would be pleased to see your opinion. Greetings from Bulgaria and wish health, happiness, prosperity and peace to all the sincere staff at your station.

Georgi Bancov

E-Mail from IRRS Milano
Dear Georgi,
Thank for your report, unfortunately the 7 MHz band is extremely crowded, and there is no empty spot or better frequency that can guarantee a 10 kHz separation between stations in this band.
The picture attached shows our signal on 7290 tonight in central Europe, and RCI on 7295 at a lower carrier and modulation level, while other stations occupy the band every 5 kHz. The 7 Mhz band is able to offer us the best homogeneous coverage in our target almost without any dead zone at the time of operation.
Please understand that our target on 7290 kHz is Central Europe, and our antennas are beaming to France, Germany and the UK. Bulgaria is quite off to the South of our main beam, and this is why you experience a higher level of modulation of China Radio Int. on 7195 at your location, splattering on us on 7290. I am glad to hear that despite some interference from CRI on 7295 you were able to notice the good strength of our signal, and you seem to have catched the program content.
So far we got excellent reports on 7290 in Central and Eastern Europe, from Spain to Russia and the UK, where we easily overcome any interference on nearby channels on our target.
From Bulgaria I suggest that you try our other frequencies, especially those to Asia and Africa, that are more in the direction of Bulgaria than our other broadcasts beamed to Europe. Please check:
for alternative frequencies.
Thanks again for writing us.
Best 73s,
Alfredo

Radio Berlin International back on shortwave
Dear SWLDXBulgaria,
We would like our former listeners clubs to recover, because the East German state and its people's property has been resolved, but not its people.
A few words about us:
RBI Radio Berlin International was founded in 1959 as an international voice of the workers 'and peasants' government of the German Democratic Republic. On 10.02.1990 there was 24-hour long broadcast.
After several years of preparations, are former employees of RBI Radio Berlin International in July 2012 24-hour test started broadcasting programs which can be heard worldwide at:
RBI Radio Berlin International operates several Internet information channels to all age groups and former listeners clubs make to our attention. Visit:
We are currently preparing our future web site on the Internet domain: www.rbi-radio-berlin-international.de before, but which is in process of being established.
We are currently 16 staff members in the Berlin area, who are from the areas of technology, presentation, media and economic policy. We are financed privately and at the beginning of our work.
The plan is a multi-lingual 24-hour full program in digital and analog form of short-to medium-transfer, long wave and the Internet.
Please let us know what proposals, suggestions and questions from you to us. We would love to incorporate your wishes into our concepts and plans to implement these steps in subsequent years.
Yours sincerely,
